Thanks for the replies. The leak isn’t serious - more an annoyance I’m experienced with cleaning up. I replaced the rack in my ‘86 turbo and added an inline filter. Unfortunately, that car died an untimely death with a healthy rack. I did a search here and got plenty of hits on the Lucas stop-leak stuff and I’ll give it a try but my inquiry is more about the actual fluid after I drain and purge the system - long over due no doubt. Seems people use anything from motor oil to ATF, but not much consensus on the basic fluid other than whatever the corner store has on the shelf. Guess that is a confidence builder that I can’t screw it up too bad.
