First time posting to this group.
I just purchased a new leather shifter boot (cover) for my 1989 Saab 900 SPG from The Tuning-Shop Ltd in the UK. Unfortunately, I am not clear how the boot fastens to the metal plate at the bottom of the shifter. The leather boot does have an elastic band at the bottom lip but the boot pops right off when you try to fasten it. Do I need to loosen up the metal plate in order for the boot material to properly secure itself underneath the plate? If so, how do I retighten the two bolts once the boot is on?
Thank you.
