How about making the "grommet" or whatever it is called that fails in the Sunroof motor gear system that is mounted below the trunk floor (see photo). I fixed mine by stuffing rubber pieces that I cut from rubber stoppers. (don't know how long this fix will hold.) The holes in this "grommet" stretch over time and then the sunroof motor does not grab the gears and as a result sunroof doesn't open. This is a common problem. (the sunroof can be manually opened and closed if you have the little handcrank that is attached to the motor but you have to do this inside the trunk on the motor - it takes a while to do this)
