I'm just updating some photo hosting, so a bunch of old links will be broken, but thought I'd re-post the images here in case anyone searches for headliner repair etc... I redid the headliners in both my 1989 and 1993 c900's quite a few years ago and they are still good today (though the cars are garaged most of the time now so they don't get so hot on the roof.
The red/tan one was in fairly good shape to begin with, just sagging cloth. I went with a bit of a darker tan:
The silver/grey one was broken in several places in addition to sagging. I repaired the shell with fibreglass and bondo hair, and then installed a darker grey headliner fabric. Note in one of the photos below, there is a divot in a corner in the shell above the C pillar (see arrow) that is particularly tricky to stretch the fabric into if the fabric adheres to other surfaces first. My advice is to push it into those corners first. As always, do not cut the sunroof hole until later. Overall, I liked the darker grey - it gave a nice contrast vs stock. This is not a hard repair, but does take some patience and attention to detail.
