Amazingly, a day or two after my posting on this subject, my radiator fan had a literal meltdown. Seriously, I was driving (had only been on the road a short time and distance (3 miles) when I smelled this electrical burning smell. I initially thought it was the truck ahead of me. He turned off and the smell persisted and I looked down at my gauges and my car was overheating! I turned on my heat - no heat! I stopped immediately in a parking lot and opened the hood. There was some smoke but not from over heated water from any location. In fact there was plenty of coolant. I looked at the fan and it wasn't working and its motor was smoking and melting the fan housing plastic. Quite the mess.
I can rewire the AC fan to take the place of the dead fan but I want to replace it. I can find used Saab 900 original fans but I am wondering if there is something better that will be a simple bolt-in to the radiator's flanges for this purpose.
Ideas? Thoughts?
What is the CFM on the original fan?
Thanks.
