My home brew tester, made with 'bits from my garage'™, (I should trade mark that, if it isn't already), is as follows.
1.Disconnect the apc hose going to the wastegate.
2.Get a bicycle pump with a mighty vac connector on the fill valve, connect it to some vacuum hose.
3.Using a three way vacuum connector, connect up a vacuum/boost gauge and then the last connection goes onto the wastegate.
The three way connector can sometimes be found on the screen wash hoses under the hood..
By looking at the vacuum/boost gauge as you pump air into the wastegate you can see/feel at what psi it starts to move and also if it holds vacuum. (Depending on the mighty vac connection at the bicycle pump fill valve).
