Rebuilding window lift motors? Posted by PaulS [Email] (#676) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PaulS) on Wed, 2 Sep 2020 20:05:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
How does one rebuild the window lift motor? More specifically, how do you put it back together. It gets to a certain point and then doesn't want to go the last half inch or so.
I'm not getting hung up on the brushes. It seems the screw gear doesn't quite get past the ring gear.
Also for what it is worth, like many of us, I've had my share of regulator and window lift motor problems. I kept putting in "good used" motors - that all failed at some point. Finally I gave up and went to Autozone and bought a re-manufactured unit. (This was the wife's car after all. I'll live with a window stuck down on a winter day when it is raining. My wife not so much.) That reman unit worked like a dream. I never saw a classic power window work so well. Anyway Autozone doesn't sell motors for a classic anymore and I need a better motor in my daily driver.
Rockauto has one rebuild left but they are kind of pricey when you include the core charge (or the price of mailing the core back to them)
