Hi there. Yes, this area has definitely been a SAAB hotspot since the model 99. You know you've found a hotspot as you travel around the world and spot a few SAABs in a short period of time.
I was reminded of this on Friday when I found myself coming up on 900 EMS hatchback on Rt. 1 that happened to be going the same way until it turned into Westerly hospital.
You're surely familiar with the old South County Motors in Wakefield, a good source for a lot of our local cars.
I definitely look forward to a local SAAB meet some day. saabnet would be the place to spark the interest. It's always nice to see the various labors-of-love of other collectors or care-takers.
Check out this popular photo of 99 notchbacks being imported in popular single-stage colors in Providence RI in 1973. I'm guessing this is the port at the top of Narragansett Bay where the petroleum tanks are. It looks like there's a metal recycling place beyond the fence.
