So I have been without ABS for years now and trying to find a replacement for the accumulator.
From what I've researched, a suitable replacement is the Wabco STC2784. It is commonly used in about pre -2002 Land Rovers (P38 comes up a lot) and I believe about the same years Jaguar XJS's.
This part is still available and I believe new (not New Old Stock like the Delco something originally used in Buick Reattas).
Unfortunately, the average price is around $200.
Recently I came across a Bosch 0-265-202-070 commonly used in Mercedes. A Brittish site I found listed it as a replacement for classic Saabs so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered it from Pelican Parts and it was about $75 delivered with a 10% coupon.
EEuroparts also has it for $69 but will charge shipping if you don't order more than $100 and they do not list it as a replacement for Saabs however, but if you have other stuff to order, I would say go with the site sponsor.
The pictures you will come across for the Bosch unit do not show an included o-ring but happily one was already installed on the unit.
I installed it yesterday and it seems to be working fine so far. I could not find any specs on it so I do not know how much pressure it can handle or the volume it holds but physically it is a little smaller but drops right in AND has a hex nut molded on the top (instead of an allen hole like ours or a nut on top of the threads like the Wabco) so it was easy to install.
I will re-visit this thread if it fails but so far I'm very happy.
One final note, I came across numerous posts about a Febi unit being a drop in replacement but also found out that they cannot handle the pressure and fail in short time.
Hope the Bosch holds up.
