Forgive me for being too basic but the foremost issue I've encountered when someone has an ignition timing problem with a C900 is related to the fact that the engine and distributor rotate counter-clockwise when viewed from in front of the car. We are all so accustomed to timing vehicles that are spinning clockwise from our usual point of view that it's easy to forget that we're looking at the back side of the engine. Seems to my memory that the engine will actually run but very, very badly when set up backwards. Just a thought.
