There is no doubt that the oil manufacturers would press the limits on viscosity to achieve higher fuel efficiency and use it for marketing. As such, 'buyer beware.'
FWIW, here is Mobile 1's recommendations for a '93 c900 Turbo with over 75k miles.

You can also access a complete chart for all the Mobile 1 products for comparison. The fuel efficient versions all have lower zinc and phosphorous content which appears to be mostly related to 0W viscosity at low temperatures. It is interesting that they have a similar kinematic viscosity around ±10-11.5 at 100°C to 10W-30.
Personally, I would not risk running any of the fuel efficient low viscosity synthetic oils in our c900 cars just to save a 2% percent in fuel use which can be easily achieved by reasonable driving or even a few extra psi in the tires.
Hat's off to Simon for bringing up this item and prompting me to actually delve into studying it. The world of motor oil is growing increasingly complex as time passes.
