After a few Saab 900 models, I thought it about time I had one with working air. Had my mechanic install a 134 retrofit kit and pull a vacuum. So far so good. Then after the receiver/dryer was all sett, it was recharged with the 134, oil and UV dye. While it was stable under a vacuum, not so much under pressure. They told me the hose and manifold set leaked like a sieve.
Unfortunately they estimated $700 to R&R the hoses and recharge the system again! A “Four Season” brand hose set is available for under $70! And it comes with even more green o-rings! Am I oversimplifying this? (not that I’ve ever done that before…)
Oh, I see the high side port is up by the compressor, but where is the low side port? Why do I have this persistent feeling I am out of my league?
