Just an FYI regarding my radio replacement strategy.
I wanted to find a way to NOT cut factory wiring.
There is now an Alpine unit. First I disassembled the faceplate (completely), de-chromed, painted the backside of the blue crap, replaced the knob with a more vintage-smaller diameter knob and it 'looks the part'.
Secondly...the factory rear power supply is actually a nice unit and puts out 40-45 watts.So...I checked the pinout of the radio and found the one that would normally power the rear. It measured 12V(The Clarion unit uses 6V on pin 1 of the din).Next I ordered a pair of m/fm din repair end. Using the Clarion-Saab info and the radio info I wired up the female din socket. I also found a pair of connectors on EB and wired them to the Alpine. Voila. it works great and does not necessitate any of the original wiring being butchered.
I realize it's a bit fanatical...it is what it is. This way I still have the oem Radio and CD(that still needs repair). This C900t is very stock and rust free. Retaining originality, to me, is important. The Din connectors...about $5. The 12v-6v adapter...About $7.
