I'm with you on this, Bernie-
that looks like mild det to me, too.
If so, there should be some signs on the tops
of the pistons. Less so on the sharp edges of the head.
If NOT, it might have been overboosting...
I'd replace them- the first layer is there to catch junk so it
doesn't score the crank. I'd also run an inside mic on the
conrods to see if the big ends are still round. Easy enough to fix if they're not.
