Bolts Instead of studs for the Exhaust Manifold? Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Wed, 13 Oct 2021 20:36:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
91T HG in progress. One of the long exhaust studs broke on removal, the other 3 came out with the nut. One short stud came out with the nut. Pulled out my ProParts new stud set. The PP short studs have way less threads on the block end than the OE. Checked the thread depth in the head. A carefully selected bolt would increase the thread engagement noticeably. Is there a problem just using a bolt with the OE thick washer instead of the long studs ? BTW I used a Viking left hand 3/16" drill bit and the Viking extractor to remove the broken end of the long stud. Never had it so easy. Made in the USA
