Hello,
I have run probably a dozen of my own cars over the years with the overboost switch bypassed. Sometimes because it failed and I can be cheap with by own cars and on cars that have been turned up over the cut off point for the switch. As long as you are not getting extremely high boost you will be fine. So as long as your boost gauge is not always going half way thru the red or more you should be fine.
The only times I have damaged an engine is when I was running 24 psi of boost with a modified turbo and 2.1l head. And on that one I burned a little bit of the piston half way to the SOC in Vermont. I still drove it to the convention and back home. If I got stuck in traffic it would foul the spark plug but running down the highway it was pretty good. Good Luck, Bernie
