Make sure when you put the new distributor wire on you solder the shielding wire that goes around all that wire so you get a good connection. The car won't start if that shielding wire isn't connected properly. I have a couple of cars that I had to switch from the oval to the rectangular connector. So just take your time making that connection properly. I wonder if that distributor came from a guy in Kansas City that used to make those. If it came from him they're pretty rare. That gentleman made it to where it would retard the timing more and hold more power. Good luck let us know how it works out. By the way this is Steven in Missouri.
