One intake bolt hole is only tapped half way into the cyl head. Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Thu, 27 Jan 2022 15:01:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm cleaning up my 91T cylinder head for a HG job. The current action is cleaning the cylinder head threads that accept the 8 intake manifold bolts. Looking at the engine from the passenger side the bottom intake bolt hole at the thermostat end of the head is only tapped halfway. All 8 holes are 22mm deep. The hole in question only has 11mm of threads. The inner 11mm is smooth and too small to ready accept my 8X1.25mm tap. Is this normal to have one hole with shallow threads? I should be able to drill the hole out with a 17/64" drill bit and tap the threads deeper. Just wondering if those shallow threads are a defect or normal.
