94 900S CV fuel pump Posted by Donald Holt [Email] (#3081) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Donald Holt) on Sun, 19 Jun 2022 21:04:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yesterday this car would not start early in the morning. Mid afternoon it did start, ran for less than a minute and died--would not restart. I've checked distributor and rotor and cleaned their contacts. Plugs are in good shape and gap is correct. I have not checked the coil, but just returned last week from a 1600 mile trip without issue.
My thought is the fuel pump may need attention, i.e., replacement. Car parts stores list a new pump from $100-$140. They also list complete fuel pump assemblies in the $330-$390 range.
My Haynes manual only goes through model year 1988, and has an update about fuel systems for 16V Turbo models, but I suspect the basic fuel pump info is not too different for later models.
Is a replacement fuel pump a likely need? If so, would it be the pump itself or the complete assembly?
Do I need to investigate other possible faults for this issue?
Thanks!
