Ve now have ze tecknology for zis.
Shoot your IR temp gun at the lower hose when you're reading 'too hot'-
Usually when a car overheats only at a stop, it's airflow, as
the radiator's doing a lot more heat transfer under load,
and airflow's provided by car motion.
So think fans first.
if the lower hose is 80c or higher, think radiator. Or again, fans- they should be running about now.
If it's not hot, then shoot the upper hose-
if it's not 100c or higher, think thermostat, then water pump.
If it is, think water pump, then thermostat.
But a clogged radiator's also possible.
Also odd stuff- I had a metal water pump lose part of itself once.
Came un- welded, as it had a spot- welded impeller.
I pulled a couple of ping- pong balls out of a lower hose on a truck once.
Sabotage!
