Yeah I just picked up a new convertible and was able to rebuild the original heater core with some used seals that I had but after about 2,000 miles it started leaking again. And when I mean used seals I'm talking about the two that are not o-rings that you cannot get I replace the other seals with new ones. I've done the same procedure in the past and have always had success this is the first time that it's not worked.I'll take it apart and see exactly where it's leaking maybe I didn't get something tight. I did go ahead and pick up a pro parts it doesn't look like it's the updated valve though. I tried to find the updated valve I did not have any luck. I did go ahead and take it apart and noticed a couple of things that could have potentially been an issue so I did go ahead and sand down the mating surface. Other than that it looks like it should work just fine.
