Hello,
Yes a piece of pipe that contacts the inner race of the bearing will push it back into position or even a punch will work if you are careful. Yes that sounds correct housing location to keep the oil in a little. I think if you just remove the bracket from the transmission you can get it out and back in but I might be remember wrong and you have to loosen the exhaust at the manifold. Good Luck, Bernie
