On your car, they'd be fine. I have Type 8s on my T5 900 (~215/275 HP). The 8.5s are just a very tiny bit lower than the Type 8s. I understand that his products are excellent. As you describe your car, the question may be why not go with the 8.8s that are 10% lower than the 8.5s? I am seriously thinking about doing that one day. You do have to make some modifications to the case to install the 8.8s. The 8s or 8.5s are pretty easy to install with the lump in the car. Theoretically, you can make the casing mods and install the 8.8s without pulling the drive train too, but it looks tricky.

Stay away from the Type 9s offered by RBM - I've heard horror stories. The teeth on the 9s are not staggered like the stock gears and Jorgen's products. There have been reports on Facebook forums (T5 forum, IIRC) of that causing the chains to break and trashing everything inside the chain case. I'd direct you to those reports, but as I noted in my post about about Jon Williams, finding old posts on FB forums is not easy.
