Hi All:
Is there any trick/easy procedure to get to the back of the AC/Heater vent control switch and the vacuum lines coming into it inside the dashboard, without completely removing the whole dashboar?
I have a vacuum problem with my 1992 (non-turbo) 900S Convertible. It stalls right after starting and won't idle properly. I've replaced:
1) the engine compartment vacuum lines
2) the rubber plugs/gaskets where the vac lines enter the intake manifold, and the PCV valve.
3) the plug wires (used Bougicord)
4) the distributor cap and rotor
5) Checked the spark plugs and gap
I Ordered a new AIC and engine temp sensor. The AIC I received was the wrong one (the new one had a 2-pin connector) and the existing one on the car has a 3-pin connector), so has to be exchanged.
And the Engine Temp sensor did not come with a new gasket, so need to get one before swapping out the sensor.
I'm suspicious that I have a vac leak somewhere - the cabin fresh air control switch on the dashboard won't stay in the depressed position and while there are vacuum sounds, they sound weaker than normal. Of course, I can't get the car to stay running/idling so difficult to confirm.
So the next checks are
* the vacuum distribution can (is it located in the passenger kick panel or in the trunk on this car?)
* the AC/Heater vent control switch and the vacuum lines coming into it. I'm hoping I don't have tear the dashboard completely apart to access it. I tried removing the radio and the ash tray mounts but no access to the Heater vent control switch there.
Thanks for any/all help.
