Late C900 fuel pump installation & locking ring depth Posted by DET17 [Email] (#1254) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DET17) on Tue, 2 May 2023 17:25:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Over the 20+ years I've owned a C900, and numerous fuel pump repairs, there has always been some doubt in my mind about proper installation of the pump.
I just finished repairing a 93 tank to install into my 91 Turbo 'Vert. The latter already had a new Walbro pump back in '16, so I transplanted that into the repaired 93 tank. I was able with a lot of fussing to position the fuel pump big O-ring fully into the groove where it lives. However it was this time (and as well previously) been touch & go fitting the pump assembly down into the recess.
For my peace of mind, I want to be certain I've got this pump "top plate" fully down into position. I shot these pics of the 93 tank, that I'm going to attempt to paste into this thread and this first post. Then I'll post the dead 91 tank with just the locking ring screwed down until it bottomed out. Hopefully the sages can tell me that I've got it right.... it sure feels rock solid and there is no more thread rotation to be had. Here we go......so I measured with this scale as a simple depth gauge. What I've got is from the flush face of the tank flange to the top of the locking ring is measuring 5.5mm.
