Just quick evening thoughts... I am sure there's more
> It is tempting to replace the factory fan with an aftermarket installation. I have a 93S where the second fan only comes on when the A/C is on. There is a factory service bulletin on how to retrofit but I'd prefer not to do that. I am thinking modern fans that drew less current and a relay could be an easy, practical fix.
Yes. I would recommend everyone do this. They're dirt cheap and work great.
> So has anyone modified the wiring to the window lift motors? I'd love to see the wiring diagram.
I fiddled around on paper for a while. I think you could do it with 2 DPDT relays if you wanted to keep your stock switches. I can't seem to figure out how to do it simply.
FWIW it appears that MTC is producing or, are still available new window switches. That's the first place to check amp drop.
The other place relates to your later question, the barrel connectors. My drivers side was intermittent until I tracked it down to a bad barrel connector. My car is almost entirely bereft of them at this point
> Finally, does anyone have a good source for high-quality electrical connectors. The stuff at Harbor Freight or the big box stores doesn't seem high quality to me.
Would love to know. I mostly grab from my junkyard whenever I am there. never a shortage of connectors to snip off and take for a pittance. I also keep a bucket of spade connectors but they're bulky for more than 2 pins. The last set of connectors off of amazon were crap.
> I too have melted connectors in the fuse box on factory wiring.
I wonder if applying a simple relay to the AC compressor would solve this problem. Move the bulk of the power draw off the circuit.
