There are still a few of us brave amateur mechanic souls who are willing to tackle this nasty, frustrating, greasy job. It's totally worth it for the pleasure of driving a C900T.
Got the rack in and am in the process of connecting the new hoses.
I was impressed with the work that Phoenix/Indianapolis did. The rack feels tight and doesn't seem to have slop in the pinion shaft. No complaints, even though the rack just sort of appeared on my doorstep one day. We'll see how it drives.
I did this same job a couple of years ago on my '90 convertible, which is most definitely not nearly as nice as your '93 (even without having seen yours.)
Parts are a problem. I've been collecting for years and have a garage-full of stuff. There are still things that I kick myself for not grabbing from the pick-n-pulls. 20 years ago, one of the places I go to could have 5 or 6 C900s in the yard. Now, we're lucky if we see one poor example a year - it gets striped to the bones in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for your comment on life change. Things will be better. Getting under the SAAB and going to work occupy the mind and give some slices of normality.
