Don't know if you're restoring a 900, but if you are, you and I must be neck and neck on progress cause your posts always line up with what I'm up to with mine.
Just Dashes sounds like the folks out in Cali that I saw the website for when I began my search to repair my dash a few weeks ago. Glad to know what their price is now without calling them lol. $1500-$1800 is quite expensive, but if it comes with a warranty, that's more comforting. A mint dash would be pretty nice too!
I'm going for mint on a budget, so here's what happened with mine: On my quest for a dash repair, I stopped by my local auto upholsterer the other day, as I need him to help fix an issue with an L-Seat leather order as well. I immediately knew the guy was legit by the organized chaos of the shop and the line of cars outside waiting their turn for some magic... well that and the recommendations from the body shop and the machine shop old timers that I caught up with earlier that day.
I asked his opinion on me cheaply recovering the dash with some vinyl I had just bought, and he stopped me dead in my tracks when I showed him some pics I took of my cracked dash. "Do they sell an ABS plastic dash cover for that thing?" he asked cutting me off in the middle of my half-conceived, half-brained idea. "Cause without rebuilding the whole dash, it'll look like it'll have the mumps the first time it gets real hot. That cover's your best bet."
Lesson learned without the effort - yeehaw! I bought the "DashTop" branded ABS cover on CarParts.com for $160 after shipping added (cause I still wanted the funky looking cutout on top). Looks like it came with a warranty as well. I secured it with the included adhesive 3 days ago and it looks good to me. Used my "harbor freight special" clamps and some tie downs to make sure it stuck reeeal good.
Now, is it perfect? No, but it's pretty damn close! The only thing that kinda bugs me (but I'll get over it - I kinda already have) is where it ends on the 3 vertical pillars cause there's about 2mm of space that it sticks out. I did adhere it well and use clamps on those spots, but it was gonna stick out inevitably. In any case, good luck Goblin!
PS. Hope you don't mind the mess in the pic! Having two separate 900s in pieces will do that... oooof!
