Hello,
That sounds more like a check valve failure. It is built into the plastic elbow on the fuel lines were it enters the tank. It holds pressure in the system when the car is shut down. There is a spec for how fast the pressure drops. A bad fuel pressure regulator would present itself as a running issue. It would either be sucking fuel in through that vacuum line or possible bad performance under boost. Good Luck, Bernie
