Ignition Condenser/Capacitor Replacement Posted by BFJRestoration [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Howdy y'all, I'd like to replace my ignition condenser as it looks like it's seen better days, and I don't believe it was working as I had static in my radio before I took my car apart. I can barely make out 0.47 on the side of it, so I'm guessing that means 0.47 microFarads. I also have found that none of the condensers online have a way to connect to both the distributor and the coil like the OEM – they all have one line and they are quite short, and of course they don't have the capacity rating. If I'd go for that single line option, would it be best to connect it at the coil and then run a ground line from coil negative to the distributor? Or is it supposed to connect to the positive terminal? Just don't want to electrocute myself ... *nervous laughter*
