Years ago a got a stainless steel heat shield for the catalytic converter that is under the oil sump in my 2000 9-5. The shield has folded edges so it isn’t so sharp and attaches to the converter with stainless steel band clamps (no rattles). If there is a sheet metal shop near you they could probably make something like that if you gave them a card stock pattern. I think it works as well as attaching it to the floor and is easier to install. The stainless steel will last forever, whereas the galvanized seems to deteriorate from the heat. In the 9-5 they went with aluminum heat shields around the mufflers that are long lasting. Aluminum might not work directly in contact with the catalytic converter. If you had the sheet metal, an air conditioning shop would also have the metal working tools.
