Hi folks,
My 86 900S is dead as a doornail. Failed to start on Thanksgiving after a short drive, after returning to the car. Failed to start as in nothing...not even clicking, all accessories dead, no lights, etc. Presented symptoms of a totally dead battery.
Battery is 2 months old. Car is a weekend car, it's on a tender when parked.
Alternator seems to have been on way out. Noticed lights dimming if fan was turned on, and vice versa noticed fan slowing down if fog lights were turned on, etc. Recently stalled at idle, I believe right when cooling fan kicked on. I had Autozone do an alternator test...tested OK...but I was suspicious.
Next day, Thanksgiving, it failed to start after a short trip as described above.
All electric was dead, central locking, accessory lights. Suspected alternator based on above.
But, car couldn't be jumped or boosted.
Car was towed home and has been sitting on tender since Thanksgiving. Just went to check on it...tender is showing the battery is fully charged and happy. Car still dead as a doornail. Central locks, etc. still don't work.
If it was the alternator, I should be able to jump it, right? And the accessories should be functional right now with a fully charged battery.
Sounds like a blown fuse? If so, which fuse could it be? I assume a failing alternator could also spike and cause a fuse to blow?
