The HKS type unit is mounted post compressor and eliminates reversion of the charge pressure when the throttle is closed. This is particularly helpful in protecting the turbine under high boost. The by-pass valve is located right next to compressor inlet....in effect, I believe, your turbo will take a beating under high boost pressures because the charge pressure would have to back track through the compressor wheels to vent....not good for the life of the turbo. Question is: Are you running higher than stock boost pressures. If so, an HKS type unit would help. I have a Turbo XS blow off valve that I will be installing shortly. Considerably less than HKS. According to my turbo builder, who does a lot of hi-po applications, the Turbo XS unit is a good unit for the price. About $130 +/-. Oh, the other advantage of this unit is that it allows the compressor to stay spooled up, since the reveresion effect is "blown off" in the atmosphere, not back washed into compressor. When charge is back washed to compressor, it actually slows the compressor down and/or bring it to almost a complete stop.
