On my 83-900 Turbo I've had a performance problem that has be haunting me and I'm sure others for a while. As we all know vacuum/boost leaks are simple to fix but difficult if not impossible to detect. One problem area is the checkvalve on the vacuum canister. The simplest way to test it is to connect a vacuum gauge and pump to the line going to the canister. Wiggle the check valve when you apply the vacuum and I'll bet that it leaks. Even after I replaced my check valve with a NEW one from Saab mine still leaked. To be thorough you should repeat the test with 10psi applied to the valve and repeat the whole process when the valve is warm. As an experiment I placed a small checkvalve from NAPA upstream of the stock checkvalve and bingo my performance has gone away. The best part about the fix is that it only cost $5.00, its easy and takes less than a minute to install. Try it you'll like it.
Todd
PS When you go to the autoparts store ask for a ignition distributor checkvalve.
PSS I have no idea if the newer models have this problem.
