Oil Pressure Accumulator - Anyone heard of it? Posted by Dave R [Email] (#514) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dave R) on Tue, 17 Oct 2000 09:22:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I want this gizmo and I've searched to no avail. It is a cylinder with a spring loaded piston that stores an amount of oil at pressure when the engine is shut off. Just before it's restarted the pressure is released to float the crank and cams. The original use, I think, was to supply oil in hard corners when the take-up went dry. Given that alot of engine wear is in start-up and with all the talk about oil on this board, a gizmo like this (for under $300 last time I heard) should be pretty popular. Accusump was it's name, made by Canton Racing. Can't find a listing anywhere for them. No, I don't work for them.
