Well, having gone through this recently in my '89 SPG, I can offer the things that I changed to turn the black beast from a Swedish massage parlor on wheels to a smooth driver. These cut down on the HF vibrations lets you keep all of your fillings.
1. Replace Front Motor Mount - the rubber on mine was split around the top bolt. All the fluid had leaked out. When I turned it upside-down, the bolt fell to the ground. Replacing it made a big difference to the vibration level. That was about $75 for the part.
2. Find and fix bad inner and outer CV joints. When I did the motor mount, I saw that both outer CV boots were split. I got inner and outer boots from Sobstory. The next weekend, I followed Jeff & Royces instructions for removing and replacing CV boots, including flushing out the outer joints with brake cleaner and repacking them with synthetic CV joint grease. One of the outer joints was bad it had all sorts of slop and, whoever rebuilt it didn't use nearly enough grease). So, I pulled one from my late, lamented '88 turbo and swapped it. The quality of ride improved yet again - most of the nervous quality at highway speeds went away, and with properly lubed CVs, the pickup improved, too.
Dave N commented that, after her replaced all of the front suspension bushings and the shock bushings, the ride got smoother and quieter. If you change the shock bushings, get OEM-type bushings. They're thicker and bigger around than the bushings you get with shock absorber replacements.
Good luck, it's worth the time you put into it.
