Just did this fix on my 87 a couple of months ago. The jury is still out as to it's permanancy, but it's working fine so far.
Open the sunroof and remove the wind deflector, if fitted, then remove the screws from the front edge of the lid. Close the lid leaving a gap of apr. 3/4 inch. Remove the top shell of the lid by lifting and pulling it forward. At this point you can see where the fabric is glued to the outer edges of the base shell. You can either scrape the fabric from the 2 side edges and the front edge, stretch and reglue. Or, if you have plenty of extra sagging fabric as I did, you can stretch and overlap the fabric and glue to the edges. I used hemastats to grip the fabric until I had enough slack to work with my fingers on the stretching. I did the 2 sides first, then the front, using outdoor carpet adhesive. Puncture the fabric on the front edge where the screw holes are. This would be a good time to inspect & lube the runner assy. & check & adjust the plastic wedges, etc. If the fabric is completely loose/unglued on the rear edge, you may have to remove the inner shell from the body to complete the fix. Instructions for removal are in the Haynes manual (pg 241 in mine). Reverse procedure to reinstall outer shell.
Hope this helps.
