If memory serves, your primary ride is an 85? What are your expectations? Are you acquiring a parts car, and if so, do you have space to store? Do you do enough of your own work to be able to put the parts t use? Or are you hoping to build another car, and do your finances permit the latter?

For that price, with a friend's truck and a good trailer (try to rent a trailer, not just a dolly), I could rationalize it pretty easily. (Not that I could convince my wife, mind you....) Assuming, of course, that you have some experience in hauling a trailer. If not, perhaps you know somebody who does.

Finally, are you prepared to go down there, look it over, then turn around and come home if your gut tells you to walk away? If you don't think you can walk away not, don't go. Lots of times your instincts will pick up things you can't articulate. As the author of the great "How to Keep Your VW Alive and Running" put it, sit in the car for a while and get an idea of its karma: has it been loved or abused? If it's been loved, and it's not just a rusted mass now, it's probably worth picking up just for parts.

Saab BBS folks may not be entirely objective about this, mind you... but I'd go for it.

Good luck, and let us know.
