I took mine to Midas when I needed a new catalytic converter many years ago. Then about two years ago, I had a bad sparkplug wire, resulting in unburnt fuel going into the cat, which cooked it. Took it back to Midas, and they practically gave me a new cat for nothing, which impressed me a lot because the cats don't have the muffler warranty. I was expecting to pay full price for the new cat. I also have a Midas muffler on there, and that one WAS replaced for free after it got damaged by a speedbump in a parking lot.
My car is a turbo and it seems to breathe easily enough with the Midas gear underneath. I'm considering one of the bigger exhausts for the performance enhancement, but don't really want the louder exhaust note. It might be a project later on. You've got the S model, which isn't as critical of exhaust backpressure as the turbos... though of course, you don't really want excessive pressure either.
If you've got the cash to blow and the need for speed, then I concur with Irie Tom -- go for the large diameter stainless system. But if you're going to keep the car a long time, don't need the extra couple of horses, want to keep it quiet, and don't want to sink a bunch of cash into the exhaust system, then Midas is a viable alternative. I've been happy with them, they're quick and convenient, and they do honor their lifetime warranty.
I'd definitely choose Midas before going to a Saab dealership for Saab OEM exhaust components, which is apt to be very expensive -- you'd be better off cost-wise with a high performance SD, MSS, or SPG9 system than going to the Saab dealerships.
Your choice.
