A couple more checks Posted by Karl [Email] (#161) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Karl) on Tue, 5 Feb 2002 17:17:49 In Reply to: Top 5 must do's for freshly purchased saab..., New 9k guy, Tue, 5 Feb 2002 12:03:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I agree with all the previous comments. I would add:
- Hook up a good boost gauge and check that both your max boost and base boost (just gently press brake pedal until you hear the click and then floor it, then you have base boost) and see that they are according to factory specs (1,0 and 0,43 bar respectively)
- Check that boost is nice and solid over the rev range. It should taper off at higher rpms but shouldn't "flutter".
- Switch ignition on (without starting) and check if "Check engine" comes on and, if it does, how many "blinks" you get. The blinks are fault codes.
- Consider replacing the front wishbone rear bushings. These are very important for handling and straight-line stability. Check for cracks first.
Good luck with your new car!
