But I've had good luck with (did this on the advice of MY agent) finding a similar car for sale and presenting that info to settle the claim. The TSN clasifieds would be a good start. Look for similar miles and options, then show them any recent repair bills. Things like age of tires and overall car condition will affect it also. Anything aftermarket can be returned to you, they do not like to pay for rims and high end sterios. Another option if your a DIY'er is to "buy back" the car for parts, generally they will let you have it for 10% of the settlement.
