There were at least four different radios used in 9000's in the early '90's. One had the display on the left, P/N 02 47 015, and was designated for non-turbo - although my '90 turbo came with this unit from the factory. It has a single amp on the back of the cage that powers front and back speakers. The equilizer that came with this radio does not have a power amp. This radio uses mechanical buttons for the cassette RW/FF/Eject functions.

Another version of the same vintage was P/N 02 47 098 and designated "turbo" version. It has the display on the right, a couple of additional Dolby noise reduction circuits, and electronically actuated RW/FF/Eject functions. Otherwise, it is identical to the one above in that there is one amp on the back of the cage for all speakers.

The amps of both of these units are rated at 20 W X 4 at max. power output. All of the specs except for the Dolby circuits in the "turbo" version are identical.

The other two units P/N 02 47 502 (turbo) and P/N 02 47 510 kicked into production some time around the early '90s. They are different than the first two outlined above in that they have a small 25 W amp on the back of the dash mounting cage for the front speakers, but use an 80 W rear speaker amplifier located under the passenger seat and connected to the radio head in the dash by a round DIN data cable. They look very similar (and are easy to mistake for) to the earlier 098 "turbo" version in the display and most button locations, but have a single button for REW and FF and a single button for band tuning.

Aside from the numbers on the units themselves, an easy way to tell which series you have is to look on the back of the radio or into the cage. If there is one row of connectors, the only amp is on the back of the cage. If there are two rows and the coaxial socket, it has the separate rear speaker amplifier.

Hope this helps...
