Air Con problem

Hi all

My air con wasn't working very well, so I called in the specialist who has taken out the 600grams of R134a that was in there, vacuummed out the system and replaced with 950grams of the same. He was rather worried by the fact that the cooling fan only cut once the high side had reached 270PSI and switched off once it reduced to 160PSI. He thought these figures to be very high. The day he came was overcast and around 13'C but the cabin air was reduced to 5'C so all was happy. Next day in the car early and air con still cooling nicely, but as the sun rose and the temp got higher (18'C) the air con wouldn't try to come on. The compressor didn't even click when switching between ECON and AUTO with the ACC set to LO. That evening I took her out again and air con worked perfectly.

Any ideas on this, could it be these switching pressures are high, does anybody have the data of what the pressures should read ?

I'd really like it fixed, we only have about 2 days of summer over here and they could arrive anytime between now and October, I'd like to be ready for them <g>.
