They recently dropped the prices on 5 sp's. I'm currently using a 5 sp
('97) on my '98 engine that I bought from Greenleaf (before they were
Greenleaf, actually, but that's another story). I got a great deal as
it only had 4k miles on it, but most of their transmissions are relatively
low mileage (50k). You can use any 5 sp from '94-'98. The '97's and
'98's are the best years. An independent shop should be able to do the
swap for under $500. I think this is substantially better than $3000.
Greenleaf will warranty their transaxles.
