I changed my 91' (old style) 2.3T Carlsson for an Aero about 2 months ago.
In my view the Carlsson is much more of a drivers car than the Aero. The Carlsson feels faster than the Aero which is in part due to the gearing difference. It is a much more agressive car to drive wheras the Aero is much more luxurious and smooth. The interior, fittings, and extras in the Aero are much better.
The performance of the Aero is 6.7 0-60 as opposed to the Carlsson which is 7.4. However the Aero will get you to 65 in second but in the Carlsson you have to change into third which is why the Carlsson looks slower. The Carlsson has much better acceleration in fifth as it has a higher gearing. The power delivery in the Aero is much less agressive than the Carlsson giving it a smoother ride.
The Aero uses Super Plus unleaded but even then it is more economical than the Carlsson. I am getting 30mpg (mainly motorway) at the moment.
If you have a choice between an Aero and a Carlsson take the Aero. My Carlsson cost me a fortune in work and it has the electronic throttle and traction control both of which are very expensive and difficult to fix.
Hope this helps
Paul (UK)
