Firstly, I don't think I would have ever considered modifications on a Saab if not for this bulletin board. This board certainly inspires confidence (and possible an overly saab-obsessive behavior *grin*)!

Anyway, down to the nitty-gritty. I ordered my exhaust from Engstrom--took over 2 months for the system to come in from Sweden. Cost for turbo-back 3" system was $470 with s/h (tsn group-buy), $115 for a carsound 3" high-flow cat, and $70 for the installation at a local muffler shop.

The installatin went well--the shop made sure there was no rattling and welded all the joints. The JT system fit very well. I was glad I had a shop do it--they took about an 1.2 hours with a fair amount of welding, cutting, and fitment work. I know many folks have installed these systems themselves--I just didn't have the time.

My thoughts on sound & performance: well, as many have said on this board, the car is certainly louder than stock. I could hardly hear the old exhaust. The JT system is much deeper and slightly louder. I notice it most when idling and at WOT. It'll take some getting used to. It's not offensive, though. No popping on decelleration and no nasty resonances. The turbo spools much more quickly. My old system would give me a sudden boost around 2400rpm. The new exhaust gives a much smoother acceleration, no sudden surges. Anyone else find this, too?

It's exciting to finally make some mods on my own Saab--not just read about all you folks doing it! I'll post some picts of the install and JT system as soon as I am able.
