Howdy,
I'm trying to make my AC work correctly. I have a '92 9kt, and I bought a spare ACC head off eBay because it looked almost like mine, but it has 1 connector on the rear instead of 2. It's part number is 4383790, in case someone needs one. What I need is part number 4071742, or one that is compatable.
I have already replaced the fan resistor, and the fan. I guess somewhere in there the ACC got messed up. As it seems to be putting 9v out on the reference wire to the fan controller (should be 0-5V). All I get is a faint breeze from the fan.
When it first started going out, I tested the whole system from the Townsend documents, and it all tested good. The fan even spun when I connected pins 3 and 4 on the fan controller. I thought it was the fan speed transistor. So I ordered one from Radio Shack. The system seemed to be working, but was a little weird. But it stopped working after about a week. Then I tested the fan again, and it wasn't working.
When I did replace the fan, the commutator was worn down to nothing in 2 spaces. The car had almost 200k miles on it at the time. I can only guess the fan mostly worked as long as it didn't stop spinning on that spot.
Thanks, Bradley
