Silicone implants

Got your attention. My 97 9000 upper motor mounts were torn and will need to be replaced. I had posted a question here earlier if anyone tried filling the voids in the mounts with GE silicone as a temporary cure to reduce the movement that was adversely affecting gear changes.
I cleaned the rubber surfaces with alcohol and covered the alternator with plastic in case any silicone dropped out (it did) and used low tack masking tape on the metal dogbone surfaces to ease cleanup. I used regular GE white silicone (for visibility in the cramped space) to do it and let it sit a few days to fully cure. I filled from one side and watched from the other side to make sure it filled the void. It seems to work. Engine vibration at idle is a lot lower and problems with shifting are resolved for now.
I know its not a long term repair but it buys some time to get other projects done. If I were to do it again I would have picked the Permatex high heat application red silicone. Offered for what its worth, a $2.49 temporary fix.
