Later models have to tap the brakes to prove they work. My fleet of 93's (2) don't do it but the shop electrical book refers to it as a function in certain markets in 93. Wife's 97 900S has it in the dot matrix display as a challenge (or is that a nag...) The filament monitor appears to be different models. Yours has a one shot reset circuit which the ign kicks into function and the first brake sw. activation resets it. Saab designed it in the car therefore you need it whether you like it or not.
