A 4yr old daughter, a Saab 9kt, and a broken foot... Posted by Jon [Email] (#11) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Jon) on Sat, 20 Jul 2002 22:44:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I like driving. I love my Saab. I like the way it drives... unlike my riding mower, which is sluggish and doesnt corner or brake well.
So this evening I'm riding the mower across the yard when I feel little hands hit my back. My four year old daughter has decided it would be fun to jump on the back of the mower and hold onto Dad. Problem is, she misssed the hitch and jambed her foot in between the mower chassis and the rear wheel. Being mechanically inclined always pays off, put the mower in reverse and I further mangle her foot, so without a moments hesitation I rushed in the house, grabbed a knife and slashed the tire. Foot is now out.
When I was little, about the same age, I got cut and needed stitches. My Dad drove me to the hospital, and got pulled over on the way and then got a police escort. So with adrenaline pumping, I carry the daughter to the Saab and damn the speed limits, full speed ahead.
So if I scared any drivers passing them on the freeway tonight, sorry. But I am glad that my Saab can safely do 135mph and thanks to all the other drivers who got out of my way when I started flashing my brights from a mile back.
I didn't get my police escort. And next time I will try and keep my adrenaline level under control along with my speed.
God bless my Saab and my daughter.
My daughter will be ok, its a marginal fracture but it sure did swell up a lot. I think my Saab is ok too.
